What You Need to Know About Lost Coast Guided Hikes
We will help you properly equip yourself and prepare for a multi-day backpacking trip. Learn basic backcountry skills, including (but not limited to) leave no trace, basic navigation, outdoor cooking and shelter building.
Permits and campsite fees are included along with stoves, fuel, cooking gear, group filtration systems. Our guided adventure do not include meals for your backpacking trip. Hiker does have the option to include meals for an extra fee. Tents and backpacks are available for those who do not have their own.

- Shuttle transportation, Blacksands to Basecamp & Basecamp to Trailheads. Meeting location for all guided trips is 865 Beach Rd, Whitethorn CA 95589
- We will provide bear canisters at no extra charge

- Clothing
- Footwear
- Rain-gear
- Water bottles
- Headlamps
- Personal items
- Toiletries
- Sleeping equipment.
- Meals for your hike unless addional fee is paid or it is an expedition hike experience
- Breakfast or lunch the day before the trip
- Lunch or dinner the afternoon we return
- Personal insurance

Safety Considerations
We put safety at the forefront of every trip. Strict emergency procedures are put in place to ensure that you are protected during the duration of our tour. Our tours are led by professional guides, who have grown up in Humboldt County. All have wilderness first aid, wilderness first responder and/or wilderness EMT training. We always carry GPS and devices that allow us to ensure our participants and employees a comprehensive risk management policy.
Weather
Below we have provided an average of high and lows on the coast but keep in mind temperatures have gotten as warm as 94 degrees F in the warmest summers and dropped below 20 degrees F in the coldest winter months.
Our guides will provide you with a weather update one week before your trip and then again at the pre-trip meeting the night before. Our goal is to make sure you are entirely prepared for whatever Mother Nature may bring!

The only time the meeting point will be different is if you have a private group and we are doing an airport or special pick up at a designated location.
You can download our recommended gear list for overnight trips. Guides will also be in contact personally to go over your list.
We bear canisters and water filtration systems for our scheduled overnight trips. We do have tents and backpacks available for those who do not have their own. We do not have sleeping pads/bags available or hiking poles.
All months have their pros and cons. It truly just depends on the type of experience you are looking for. If you go to our guided hike schedule each trip will have a little description of what that month has to provide for you.
Yes and no. This trail is difficult and can take a toll even on the most avid hikers. The terrain is unlike anywhere else. It can be achieved by beginner hikers as long as you are phyiscally able, mentally prepared, and take our guides advise throughout the trek. We stretch the hike out over 4 days/3nights and have expert guides helping you every step of the way.
We are locals to the land and give an experience unlike any outfitter out there. It is professionable, personable, and afforadable. We are able to give you the local history and know this trail like the back of our hand. Our lead guide has been sub-contracted by REI for the past 7 years to lead this hike for them. We are the people others come to. You are booking directly with the source.
The lost Coast trail is a stretch of 50 miles along the Pacific Ocean. There is the Northern Section and Southern Section. They are split into 2 sections, people either do one or the other. The Northern Section is the most common. The Southern Section is equally beautiful but less maintained. This trail is true raw rural beauty and becoming among the most popular destinations.

Guided Hikes Cancellation Policies
Our goal is to work with you when life presents us with scheduling challenges, to ensure your best experience and the convenience of other participants we have designed the following set of guidelines. Please feel free to contact us at tours@lostcoastadventures.com before you register if you have any additional questions.
Overnight Trips
- 28 days before departure you qualify for a full refund or transfer to a trip (@the same cost within three months) with room available.
- 14-27 days you are eligible for 50% or a transfer to a trip (@ the same cost with room available within three months)
- 8-13 days you are eligible for a 25% refund
- 7 days or less, your trip is non-refundable unless we cancel a trip due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances in which we will give you a 48-hour notice.
We must receive a minimum of five participants to run our backpacking trips in order to make it the best experience possible for the group. If we do not receive our minimum within a mont of departure we have the right to make the unfortunate decision to cancel or re-schedule. In this case, we will fully refund your money and give you a phone call and an email letting you know.
